Move That Pain
Move that Pain is a unique memoir documenting my life living with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA) from the age of five. This rare and debilitating form of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) has profoundly impacted my life journey. Now at fifty-six, the time has come to share my knowledge and expertise with a view to helping others living with the disease or chronic pain. The book is written to show that there is a life beyond pain, it details my medication and treatment regimes along with a moment of unimaginable trauma for my family when at the age of seven I cheated death. A heart-felt compelling read, it intertwines stories of my relationships, multiple surgeries, education, and the difficulties I faced in my career, as well as the gift of motherhood. This is a comprehensive account of how sJIA has directed my life, yet despite everything it is filled with laughter and promotes resilience, joy, and empowerment in the face of adversity.

About Gail
I'm fifty-six years old and married to Mog as he is fondly known. We have an eighteen-year-old daughter, Ellie, who is exploring medicine as a career, possibly instigated by my illness. Completing the family is our rescue dog, Wilf.A lifelong lover of animals and nature, I became a vegetarian at the age of eighteen, which instigated my need to become an advocate for cruelty-free products as well as campaigning against puppy farming. We are a family of motor bikers, and Ellie and her Dad can often be found riding Trials together. I have a strong Christian faith and attend my local Methodist Church regularly. I’m passionate about helping others and volunteering has been a large part of my life both within Scouting and my local Church. My family and friends are crucial to my well-being. I love life, and togetherness is what keeps me going. I have great FOMO and dislike missing out on anything!
